Here at JV Hunts we provide a wide range of packages to support the hunting enthusiasts by providing fully guilded hunts in ring-neck pheasants, sharptail grouse, whitetail deer, mule deer, Merriam turkey, and even the ultimate prairie dog. If you are looking for unguided hunts we provide an excellent unguided pheasant package.

Ring-neck pheasants and Sharptail grouse

Are you a hunting enthusiasts? Looking to hunt newly opened hunting ground? Ring-neck pheasant photo We have over 2000 acres of prime pheasant hunting land.

The South Dakota pheasant hunting season begins the third weekend of October and continues through the first week of January. Sharptail, prairie chicken, and partridge season begins the third weekend of September and continues through the pheasant season. Learn More

Merriam turkey

Looking to bring a new twist Thanksgiving dinner? Merriam turkey photo Instead of purchasing your turkey like everyone else why not bring home a wild Merriam Turkey fit for a king. We have 2000 acres of prime turkey hunting land over looking the Missouri river, a must see site.

The spring season application process opens in mid January with a late February deadline. The tradition start for the season is the second Saturday in April, running through the third Sunday in May.

The fall season application process opens in mid June with a late July deadline. The season traditionally runs from October 1st through January 31st. This season covers most of the state. There is no fall archery season, however archery equipment may be used for the firearms season.

Whitetail and Mule deer

Are you a hunting enthusiasts? Still trying to bag the a whitetail or mule deer trophy? Whitetail deer photo We have over 2000 acres of prime trophy deer hunting land. No need to hunt a deer with a shotgun, in South Dakota it is legal to hunt with all types of rifles.

The South Dakota west river deer season begins and ends in November. Deer hunts are limited and in order to hunt a South Dakota deer tag licence must be present. Learn More

Prairie dogs

Tired of going to the gun club and shooting stationary targets? Prairie dog photo Have an itch to see just how good of a shooter you are? Well you are in luck we have over eighty acres of rolling hills dedicated to the mighty yet dastardly prairie dog.

The package contains all the neccessary options to make even the bravest prairie dog tail twitch. Most of our hunters prefer to use a .22 caliber gun during the hunt, and we allow any pistol or rifle up to a .243 size. The South Dakota prairie dog season is open all year long, but do to the seasonal changes the best available hunting time is late Spring through early Fall. Learn More
